Some people put a lot of pressure on consumer holidays, Valentine’s Day included, but the truth is there are so many ways to celebrate the people you love without spending a ton.
With Valentine’s Day 2020 coming up, we (the team behind Fuzzy Babba!) thought we’d share a little bit about how we’ll be using the holiday to reconnect with our friends and families, and ourselves.
Read on to learn what we’re doing for Valentine’s Day, and let us know how you’ll be spending the holiday!
Making Time for Me
The commercialization of Valentine's Day has made this day very important to many. Personally, in the past, I always felt the need to make Valentine's day extra special by going out on a date night with my special one. Although, this year feels different. As I am currently focused on my personal growth, I see Valentine's Day as an opportunity for self-care and cozying up on the sofa.
This year Valentine's Day lands on a Friday night, and after a long week and day of work, the last thing I would want to do is anything cheesy. Therefore, I intend to do things that make my soul happy. After work, I aim to work out, take a long-overdue bath followed up with a hydrating face mask. Next, I’ll be ordering some take out, slipping into my super comfy Fuzzy Babba slipper socks and snuggling up under a warm blanket on my couch with a glass of red wine. To end the night, I might watch one of the John Wick movies since I haven’t seen any of them!
Cozy Weekend Getaway with My Hubby
Living in New York can get very expensive, and (believe it or not) sometimes it’s more cost effective to book a hotel and enjoy a holiday somewhere else than it is to get a nice dinner in the city! I feel very fortunate to get to spend most of my days living somewhere people come from all over the world to vacation to, but as a girl from the suburbs, it’s always nice to escape from NYC’s frenetic energy every now and again.
My husband and I have been together for 10 years, and even though we’re not big into gifts or holidays, this year we thought it’d be fun to get away together for the long weekend. We’ll be enjoying a couple cozy nights at a quiet bed and breakfast outside of the city, snuggling up with our little puppy (yes, even pet sitters are expensive here!) in our Fuzzy Babbas by the fire.
Getting Some Sunshine With My BFF
There’s so much anticipation around Valentine’s Day. It seems like the entire world appears to be celebrating it and sharing their celebrations with thousands of their Instagram friends which can make you feel sad or that you have to do something special.
Gratefully, being single and alone on Valentine’s Day has become more standard and celebrated in recent years which is lovely. The point of the holiday is to celebrate love and heartfelt relationships which can be with yourself, your best friend or even your parents. The most important relationship you have is with yourself, so why not celebrate that this Valentine’s Day, regardless if you’re single or taken?
I’ll be spending my Valentine’s Day in sunny, beautiful, remarkable Los Angeles, California with my best friend. We’ll be going to Jon & Vinny’s for dinner and will cherish the moments we spend together discussing life and enjoying ourselves while looking up at the gorgeous sunset creating memories we’ll never forget.
All in all, Valentine’s Day is about appreciating the people you love and spending time with them. This year, I chose my best friend to spend my day with. How will you spend yours?
What’s Your Plan?
