Staying in tonight? The first date night activity that probably comes to your mind is binge watching your favorite shows on Netflix together. While there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a relaxing evening in front of the TV, if you and your honey are on the hunt for new ideas, we came up with some you might love!
HOST A GAME NIGHT
Secure some snacks, and break out the board games. Game nights are often super nostalgic, and always a lot of fun! Some of our favorites are the classics: Monopoly, Scrabble, Sorry, and The Game of Life.
MAKE TRAVEL-INSPIRED DINNERS AT HOME
Though this one requires some prep work, it’s such a fun idea and can be done any way you want. Pick a country you’ve been wanting to visit (or maybe one you already have!) and make some meals inspired by its cuisine. The process of cooking together is sweet and intimate, and really requires teamwork.
Some of our favorites:
Italy: Prepare homemade pasta or pizza together. You can find fun recipes that are easy and don’t take too long.
Greece: Recreate fresh dishes inspired by the healthy, plant-based Mediterranean diet. Make an easy and veggie-filled Greek Salad, or prepare main dishes with feta cheese, olives, and olive oil.
Mexico: Taco night is always a great night - don’t only reserve it for Tuesdays! What’s especially nice about a taco feast is that you and your honey can build your own; even if you don’t agree about what to fill your flour tortillas with, you can both still enjoy your meal. Just put some ground beef on the skillet, add fresh veggies, and you’re good to go!
SET UP AN AT-HOME DATE NIGHT PICNIC
If you don’t live close to a park, then this is just for you! You can set up everything you need (blanket, snacks, utensils) right in your living room or backyard. Lay out your favorite foods, and don’t forget a bottle of vino. The best part about an at-home picnic is that you never have to worry about forgetting to pack something!
PLAN YOUR DREAM TRIP
If you and your love have been planning on a vacation but haven’t had time, then make this night where you make “Operation Dream Trip” happen. Get inspiration from Pinterest or Instagram, and do your research.
GET CRAFTY
Take this time to unleash your inner artist! Creating something together is a great bonding activity.
Some crafts to try are:
- Decorating ceramic mugs
- Putting together a scrapbook
- Painting each other’s portrait
- Creating art out of old wine corks
- Making a “thing I love about you” jar for each other
