Cozy Recipes from Pantry Staples

Whether you can’t get out and go grocery shopping, or prefer to stock your shelves rather than fill your fridge, there are so many cozy recipes you can make using only pantry staples.

Here are just a few of our favorites!


Easy Nachos

While you can certainly add some fresh peppers and shredded cheese, you can make a simple, delicious and filling plate of nachos with:

  • canned beans
  • a jar of salsa
  • a can of nacho cheese
  • jarred jalapenos
  • tortilla chips

Evenly layer each ingredient, bake at 300 degrees for about 15 minutes, and you’re all set!


Chickpea Shakshuka

Chickpea shakshuka is a hearty, savory dish that can be enjoyed with rice, pasta, or crusty toast. It takes only about 30 minutes to prepare, and can basically use any mix of spices you have in the pantry! Try out this recipe.


Mexican Bean Soup

Pretty much all you need are canned tomatoes, beans and spices to create a comforting Mexican bean soup. This quick recipe takes only 20 minutes and feeds a family of four!


Sweet Potato Pancakes

Sweet potato pancakes taste like an extravagant brunch item, but they’re actually super easy to make! This recipe does require eggs, but you can probably find most of the other items already in your pantry.


Upgraded Boxed Mac and Cheese

While there’s nothing like a classic box of easy ‘mac, stir in your choice of these pairings of extras to make the meal a little more special:

  • bacon bits and chipotle powder
  • black beans, chili powder and taco seasoning
  • chickpeas and curry powder
  • canned beans and salsa
  • packaged tuna and breadcrumbs

Pasta and Tomato Sauce

This might be the easiest, quickest, most affordable family meal ever! Boil your favorite boxed pasta in water, strain, then stir in a canned sauce to serve a delicious meal in less than 15 minutes. If you’d like to make your own sauce, you can still use canned tomatoes and season with your favorite spices from the pantry.


Canned Vegetable Soup

Stir your favorite mixture of canned veggies into a pot of chicken stock or vegetable broth, add some spices, wait for it so simmer for a few minutes, and enjoy. Yes, it really is that easy!


Ambrosia Salad

Depending on who you ask, ambrosia salad is either a classic dessert or a side dish! It usually involves a mixture of canned fruits, coconut, mini marshmallows, and something to mix it all together with.

For a recipe that doesn’t require anything from your refrigerator, try mixing:

  • mandarin oranges
  • maraschino cherries
  • miniature marshmallows
  • shredded coconut
  • vanilla pudding cups
  • canned pineapple
  • pecans

Mix all of the ingredients together, chill in the refrigerator, then enjoy!
